TAPESTRY OF THE BOG 2010 - SUNDAY 15TH AUGUST

Meet at 11.30 am for registration outside the Friars Tavern in Lorrha
Village (near the post office). Tour departs at 12 noon.

This year, the Tapestry of the Bog day will meet in Lorrha, where our
guide, Mary McGeeney, was raised. She will open peoples' eyes to the
evidence of antiquity, the three monasteries from the 5th, 12th and 13th
centuries, a holy well, and a Motte, which is the oldest relic in the village.
She will point out the location of the O'Kennedy Castle, the place to
where the O'Kennedys moved after they installed the MacEgans, the
hereditary brehons and ollaves, in their former home of Redwood Castle.
She will bring us to Curragha Bog, the bog she knows from her childhood.

The charge for the Tapestry of the Bog, which includes a complimentary tour
of Redwood Castle is €10 per adult, and €2 for children.
